De-fuel?

Hey, guys - I've had my truck for better than a year and have never seen the check engine light come on. Today, I kicked it in the hiney to pass someone, and when I got around them, my CEL was on. Also, it felt like it was making only about half its normal power, and it stayed that way until I shut it down and re-started. After that, the CEL was out and power was normal. Since I put the Stage 1's on, it's pretty easy to hit 30 psi of boost, and I'm pretty sure that's what caused the CEL. Is the power loss due to what you guys refer to as "de-fueling"? I just want to make sure that this is "normal" and not something going south on me. Thanks!

It's certainly possible, but "half it's normal power" is a bit excessive for a "normal" defueling situation. Best bet would be to have the code pulled and see what it is.

I am not positive on this but I would guess you couldn't get enough oil to the Bigger Injectors so that is what made the code pop up but that would be my guess. But if this was the case I think that it would of ran fine after this. I don't know if that is the problem but it may be somewhere to look or check.

i would bet its an icp code, probably a p1211. You need to put a fresh hpop on it and the cel will go away.

Thanks, gentlemen - I'll post the results after I have someone suck the code out for me.

Is there any difference between the HPOP in the 1996 and 1997?
DO those splitshot injectors need more oil than the ones in the 1996?

No difference in 96-97 HPOP's.

YES the Splits will take more oil your standard single.
