Got a 58 F100 with a NAPCO conversion and a fried sbc 350. It still has the T98 tranny. Im trying to bring it back to life with a fresh sbc 406. the steering box is worn and I want to replace it with power steering. What "piece" should go in there---the real deal with the least modifications?? Comments welcome, thanks, Rod
The Toyota PS box is the way to go. PM or email Ferguson 777 for an advance copy of our tech article on steering options and Toy box install for more info.
George, Thanks for the welcome---just looked at the service ratings in your fine article and I think my 58 would be a 7 or 8-- think it sat in a river for a winter or so. Rod

The original style Ram Assist P/S System is the Bolt Right into place type that you are looking for.
The T*$#@a box you have to Cut a chunk of the Steering Column Off & Weld on a Knuckle in order for it to work & if you are running Headers it interfers w/ them, plus you Loose the ability to Use your original Horn Button in the center of your steering wheel as it's a Hollow Shaft where the wire runs through for the horns.
By-the-by, Welcome & put back in a 292/312c.i.er that actually Complaments your RARE Rig, as Not Many '58s Came w/ the NAPCO conversion

Col. Flashman--Thanks for the PS info. The '58 came with the 223 6cyl but was converted to sbc before i got it. Years ago I had a 55 T-Bird with the 292 and a little tweaking. nothing could beat it to 50 mph, yeh maybe down the road I'll get one for the 58 F100. Thanks Rod
