A Blind Eagle

I was watching the old cowboy looking dude that has the early morning show on t.v. He made a statement about Nascar that went something like this.....He didn't understand why some of the drivers raced....they never won, and always finished thirty something....Now I had had that thought before myself...why not just cut it down to like about twelve cars , the sport wouldn't be so dangerous, and look at the fuel they would save....just a question, but I would like to see someone new win the race or at least be in contention. Dang, you would think someone named Petty could get up there once in a while....Now I know it has to do with money....the best cars, etc., but even a blind eagle finds an acorn now and then.....Just wondering!

Well, if they ever get team ownership under control and limited the way they claim they're going to, they might get some of the money spread around a little more. Two teams is enough for anyone. That's still one more than most can manage.

Sounds like the herd is about ripe for a wild stallion - but who has the money to break into it?

It is all about the $$$$$.
Right now, Kenny Wallace is in 48th place for the cup, only racing for one race. He started 36th, finished 41st, and his earnings for that one race is $97,533. I don't know about you, but I don't make that much in a year, let alone one weekend!

$97,533
Was that his cut? Or did he have to use some of it to pay his pit crew? I know, I know, the sponsor's money pays most of the expenses, but....

...Nevermind, I'm gonna start racing. Anybody know some one willing to hire a 40 year old rookie??

How many other sports have 43 teams competing in the same contest?
Imagine what baseball or basketball would be like if only one team per week could win?
Even the worst teams in those sports win at least some times.
How many Nascar drivers go for years, or even an entire career without a win?

I don't know jakeoo....I think the competitive basket weaving might work for me...Of course I have been involved in the arts for many years....The local stock car track here is more interesting....of course, THE PRIZE MONEY is not quite as much....It will be a while befor I will be watching NASCAR, for sure.....just my opinion....!

36 points races, plus the Bud Shootout and the All-Star race (used to be The Winston), which are non-points races. The All-Star pays a million to win.
