Flowmasters

Hello,

I have heard (for the first time) people bashing flowmaster mufflers. I have always up tell know heard nothing but good things about flowmaster. I have a true dual exhaust on my '05 F-150 FX4 and love the way it sounds. I can't tell I difference in the power of the truck but I don't really think just a cat back system will yeild a noticable increase in power. Anyways just wondering what yalls thoughts where on flowmaster versus straight through type of mufflers.
Thanks

I've got a set of American Thunder Flowmasters on my 96 Mustang GT....Love them! Get complements on the sound quite often.

You are right about the horsepower gain...You will not see any noticeable increase in horsepower by just changing out the muffler. As far as I seen, people seem to THINK Magnaflow will see a greater gain in horsepower compared to Flomaster....I have a 40 series Flowmaster on my F150 2005 and I love it!

Give it 1 hour and someone will post something bashing my comment about how Flowmaster sounds and how they rob horsepower

I know it's not an F-150, but I have a 40 series on my Ranger as well, great sound, dunno if it changed the performance, but the sound sure does make it seem more powerful! Get compliments on it.

I just got home from the exhaust shop and had a Magnaflow 12256 4x8x18" installed on my new 06 with only 297 miles on it. It is not as loud as the Pacesetter Predator I had on my 98 but it has a nice growl to it. You barely hear it at all while cruising but when you step on it it wakes up pretty good. I can also hear it at idle now where with the stock monster of a muffler you could not hear anything at all. I would recomend Magnaflow to anyone wanting a new muffler of system I might even have gone with the 14" version if I could do it over again.
