How bad can it be?

So tell me guys how bad would it be to chip a lease truck? I know dealerships don't want to see those kind of things. I would like to chip my truck but I don't want to void my warrenty. Or is it the one or the other? What kin Id of parts could I put on my truck that the dealership wont kill me on.My truck is a '06 F150 XLT. If I do put a chip in, what are some good ones to look at?

A dealer would have to prove that your mod was the cause of an issue. Just the same though if you have a tuner you should "untune" it before you bring it in. I hear lots of good things about Superchips but I bought an Edge Revolution and really like it. Do a search for Magnuson-Moss (about warranties and aftermark mods) and you'll find lots of info on this site.

Has anybody heard of diablo chips, i don't know much about them but i hear they work good. How much work is it to '"untune" the truck before you take it in?

With the Edge you simply choose the option Return To Stock and it puts the original programming back in your trucks computer. The Superchip and Diablo are probably pretty similar as far as that goes. There's a few other steps, such as removing a battery cable and cycling the power which I guess can prevent a dealer from seeing that you used a programmer. Check out the Computer Chips and Tuners forum here.

Can't chip any new f150. A tuner is the only option.

I don't know a lot about chips and tuners. Is a tuner one of those that you would run a small display into the cab? I think I might have seen those, you can change the settings on the fly kinda?

A tuner reprograms the PCM, and it's not on the fly. If you don't want a lot of problems, and really don't know much about tuning, the Superchips Microtuner would be a great first time tuner.

With the $80 rebate it makes the SCMT the cheapest tuner from Motorhaven (FTE).
