76 4X4 front differential

76 4X4 front differential
My 76 F150 appears to have a tube coming out of the top of the front differential. The tube connects to nothing and i have never seen anything like this on the fords my family currently own. If anybody can enlighten me to the point of the hose, it would be greatly appreciated.

Never fear, thats your vent tube and they all had those. Just make sure there is a length of verticle hose connected to that tube...this is to keep the mud/water/sludge from getting into your diff.
If your knuckles ain't bleeding you did something wrong.
