I bought a 4" drop shackle kit last year. I also bought 4" blocks for the rear. I have yet to install the front kit as the directions were quite poor. Has anyone installed a kit like this and was it worth it.
Also you know how the rear OEM 2" blocks have the bump stop, is it common practice to keep those underneath new blocks?
Cooper,
Not sure what you mean by is it worth it? That answer completely depends on what you like. For me it was absolutely worth it. I think this small change and 35's makes the excursion look like it should have stock. I have a few pics in my gallery.
I am not sure what blocks you have but they should have bump stops on them already and stacking blocks is never a good idea.
If you need good install instructions go to the Donahoe Racing Website and downlond the instructions for their 3" drop kit. Brands may be different but the process is basically the same.
I think I bought BDS 4" blocks and they don't have the bump stops on them. I had also purchased some "new" shocks on Ebay which were supposedly superlifts made for a 4" lift... no name onthe shocks though.. and it bottomed out all the time. I have since purchased another set of OEM shocks and that seems to have sured that issue. I have seen several trucks that have the blocks stacked, thats why I asked.
The " worth it " statement was simply if they were issues after the installation that caused second thoughts.
I know several people who stack blocks as well and have never had problems, just not something I would do.
Other than the wife having trouble putting my son in his car seat (she's 5'2) nothing that made me regret the change. I think it drives as well or better than stock.
