I have a 96 F250 Crew Cab with 3.55's and 285/75/16's wanna go to 4.10's and need help doing it. I have re geared vehicles in the past and want to do it in this truck But need help with where. Does anyone know where to go with step by step directions backlash/crush bearing/shim info for this vehicle? I am trying to get some mileage and power back. Any good websites or books i can find?
Hey if you could I would greatly apprecite it or Just let me know what manual yo have or what one is worth buying. As I'm sure you know some are lacking and will tell you to take it to someone who knows what they are doing
what exactly do u need to know, you need to measure the original pinion depth and back lash on the ring gear and then look at the + or - and get to the same measurement by adding or subtracting shims, front
ring gear bolts 90 ftlb
pinion nut 220 - 240 ftlb
preload pinion 20 - 40 inlb
backlash is .005- .009 in
Source is Alldata software
you may need a case spreader for the carrier bearing shims max spread is .015in
