I have seen alot about putting the EFI exhaust manifolds on a carbed 300. I don't see a whole lot about headers. Can anyone tell me which is better? Also how do the EFI manifolds bolt on to the engine? Do you take the two manifolds and just bolt them right to the block? Please let me know, I am looking at putting a new Holley 390 carb and an offy 4 barrel intake but I need to know what kind of exhaust to bolt on too. Thanks
Although you will see "headers" referred to almost generically, there are headers of various designs and tube diameters. If you opt for headers, compare the dyno results from the different manufacturers you want to consider. If they can't supply you with the dyno results, don't consider them, and don't just take a salesman's word for it. Get it in writing.
The EFI manifolds seem to work extremely well from all reports, that's what I am putting on. Being cast iron they have the advantage of noise suppression, (that tinny sound,) and durability. Also I have faith in Ford's engineers, they recognized the breathing restriction of the old design manifolds and this was their fix.
