0-60 in 10?
i was thinking about doing this if and when i find one REAL cheap, i think i can find and industrial and make it work. however thing about this for a minute a turbo on these trucks spools slow, i don't care what ya'll say they are slow compared to the dodge i drive, and they only push max 13 psi stock. but w/ the blower you can hit that much idleing now w/ a dump valve of some sort you could gear it so that it hits 13 fast and then blows the rest off. makes that truck real responsive yeah takes a little hp and no not as efficeint as a turbo but easily for the same price it could be done. beautiful thing about those roots style blowers is they are desgined to make boost at low rpm thats the whole reason why they are used instant boost off idle then if you really set it up right you can use a blower bypass and have a turbo come online and continue feeding air while the blower free wheels. thats the slickest set up really.
for those who think they work well on gasseres and not diesels let me ask you do ya'll know where roots style blowers got there start, it was on the old 2stroke detroit diesels. have to have one to scavange the air so it can run. the gassers adopted the idea to force more air into an engine that way. thats the reason when your buying one for your little 302 or 350 you order a 6v71 or a 8v71 maybe a 12v71 there are others for sure but those are the most popular, all they are though is those old blowers guts made to look pretty and adapted to fit on whatever engine block you have.
still don't think it works well then ill pull up a pic of a belive its an 8v71 blower on a cummins 5.9 backed up by a pair of HUGE twins. makes 25 psi w/ the blower just off idle makes 10 or 12 at idle and once the twins light at like 2k rpm they bypass it works pretty good i hear.
