Testing an 06..questions

I've test driven an 06 FX4 regular cab twice now. The first time was in October and it had 9 miles on it, I brought it back with 26 or so. The second time was the exact same truck Friday, and it only has 36 on it by then.

My question has to do with its responsiveness. It felt almost like turbo lag of a diesel in throttle response. I'd hit the go pedal, and it'd wait a second them go. If I remember correctly, I think it was worse this time then last time. I did notice the fuel gauge was still floating around the 1/8 tank area, so I dont think any new fuel has been put in the truck since around October.

Is this due to old fuel? The newness of the vehicle and it needing more of a breakin time? Drive by the wire and the truck is always like this? Or a combo?

Thanks for the input. I really like the truck, the seats seem a little on the short side from my butt to the back of my legs compared to other vehicles, but it could be how I had the seat set. I am definitely considering though, and decided to get all you guys input on the problem first.

Probably the most discussed "feature" of these trucks. Should be somewhat fixable with a computer reflash (ask the dealer about that). If you are willing to spend a few extra bucks go with a tuner (mine is a Diablosport Predator) and get rid of the lag entirely.

My truck is almost two years old now and I like the seats better than I did when I got it. Cushions appear to initially be pretty firm, but they soften out, and let you sit further back into them with time.

I have an 04 that has the lag. The dealer did the reflash which helps for a while but after time the lag comes back. On my truck I notice it mostly during emergency situations when I need to move quickly to get out of the way. The truck just doesn't like it. I thought that by 06 the problem would have been fixed. Other manufacturers use fly by wire also and their trucks don't seem to have the lag. Bottom line, it will probably get a little better as the truck breaks in. But it will always be there to some extent.
