timing marks ?
I have replace fuel filters ahead of high pressure pump and behind it also. so im getting fuel. just bought a new distributor and have instaleed it three or four times and my truck is still not running. Its and 89 300 six cyl 4x4 efi. there is a notch on my damper pulley and also marks underneath my alternator. ive put my number one cyl all the way to top on compression storke and installed the dist with rotor pointing to number one on the cap.my truck still will not crank up.am i missing something. which marks should i go by when i do get it running to dial it on in.it seems to me they do not play in to this yet since im trying to retime it from the beginning and not relying on the marks right.bringing num one cyl to top on comp stroke setting dist in rotor to num one should be right right. any help at all would be great because im confused as heck. ive read so many diff post on this subject i am not sure now if im right or not. thanks for any imput on this..toyota88... oh its 5 spd and not sure if i have spout or not. my truck has no carb its efi, if this helps any.truly the 300 six is the hardest motor ford ever built to try and time bar none..

not sure about the spout quicklook but my fuel pump is coming on and even just in case ive srayed my intake with fuel just to eliminate that till i get it time and i was getting fire yes. from the coil and also pulled num one plug out and it was firing.im at a loss.. im gonna try and retime it without any marks only its hard to tell when its exactly tdc..on the comp stoke though..

well reset timing with num one to top rotor to num one tower now no fire. hooked up my coil directly to battery and still no spark.. any clues to what i can check next please.

well if the battery isn't dead, I'd replace the coil. However, I'd pull the dist. out, move the rotor to number one, then reinstall while keeping the rotor pointed at number one, as long as the number one piston is still at TDC. This will be your base time. With a timing light, your timing should be 10 degrees BTDC, which is about an inch on your harmonic damper. SPOUT is connected to your TFI module. A Haynes manual will explain how to test that.
