C-6 Question

I have a 71 Ford 390 2wd w/ a C-6. I was going through this truck doing some routine maintenance. I went to adjust my bands on my tranny. But i cant find where the adjusting screw is. My haynes manual for 73-79 says that it is ahead and above of the shift rod. Well i looked and the only thing close is a plug were it should be. Could this be right? how do i adjust the bands? Why wouldn't it have an adjusting screw? How does my tranny even shift without the screw? Thanks for all your help

C-6 Question

I recemend not to adjust the bands. The adjustment is crucial to proper operation, and if not adjusted corectly the band can be burned. The band on your year application is very thin and if it is out of factory adjustment means that the band is worn and is time for a rebuild.
