This spy shot is from Edmunds that they say came from the Ford michigan proving grounds stating that this is an 07 smaller size replacement for the discontinued Excursion to be named the "EVEREST"...
I don't really trust edmunds or consumer reports, car and driver, etc. The Expedition EL as it has been named is merely competition for the suburban, as opposed to a 'replacement' for the excursion. You can see an un-bra-ed picture of the standard and EL in teh 2007 Expedition forum...
Your point is well taken, but if we took the current Explorer and "stretched" it that wouldn't exactly make it an Expedition so we possibly may be comparing apples against oranges and talking about two seperate vehicles.
Just as the extended Expedition wouldn't make an 'Excursion' per say. I do agree, calling the EL and Excursion is stretching it a bit. Comparison is indeed apples to oranges. Both are based on two totally different platforms.
I saw the EL expedition yesterday at the auto show in Milwaukee. It looks like a nice truck however it is no excursion. It had independent rear suspension which would give the suburban a run for the ride. I like the front grill.
The only way any of us will get an 07 Excursion is to take a 07 F250 and modify it. I keep telling every dealer I'm in that they need to have keep after Ford to keep making Excursion's just for us that want the Heavy Duty SUV. Only one ever made.
I herd that about Nissan working with IH with plans on using the 4.5 in there pickups. I am not sure that means ford cant use it also, but it might. Ford does currently market the 4.5 L PSD in a LCF cab over 1.5-2.0 ton truck. Seems odd to me they used the v-6 in a 19,500 gvw truck when they sell the 6.0 V8 in there 3/4/F250-F350 trucks. But who knows, IH makes the LCF and ford markets them so there maybe why they are selling it in the LCF.
