are these batteries...good enough for a psd truck...and which one would be good....red or yellow top?
Really good batteries and really expensive. Have u checked any other brands?
Red or yellow depends on your usage/conditions.
I would pick the yellow D34 because of it's deep cycle ability.

Red top! I have been running red tops for years. Yellow tops are the deep cycle like PSNut mentioned, but you will be fine with the red ones. Pep Boys has them pretty cheap. If you are in the military you an additional ten percent off.
alright then it will be red tops, I just run alot of electronics on the truck and I have been noticing that on cold starts I have been trouble cranking....and need that extra ummm to start it right up..
Just my .02 worth, There have been quite a few complaints about the optimas in the longevity dept. From I personally have experienced, they dont last as long as the duralas red tops! On another forum site, there are quite a few people who have had simular experiences with optimas and will never buy them again. Optimas are a bunch of hype and are wayyy over rated. The batts in my truck now are duralast red ops and cost me $57 each! and work like a dream, even in the cold weather, I dont plug it up and she still fires strong. ...but like I said, thats only my .02 worth. Optimas arent bad, but arnt better than ny other, well maybe in that fact that you can turn optimas upside down for a period of time, but I dont think you will be upside down anytime soon.
That's why they have the more expensive (yellow top)Deep Cycle batteries.
Longevity is better with the deep cycles. Just another .02 worth.
I recommend posting this question on Optima's in the electrical systems/wiring
forum for some more info.http://www.diversifiedbattery.com/Optima_Batteries.html

I'll have to agree with you Budkole. I bought two brand new Yellow top optimas for my motor home (coach batteries) thinking they would be the best choice, wrong! They where not any better then the stock TROJAN bats..
I also feel they are over priced and over hyped, after having two of them IMO
my experience with the yellow tops is, never never again......
never used the red tops but after getting burned with the yellow top, i won't try the reds. a few of my friends had no luck with the yellows either....
WOW! Batteries are like air filter systems with wide ranging info good and bad.
We used the yellow ones in comm equipment back-up batteries and they lasted
a long time. Had several in parallel. Go figure.

Maybe I am mis-skewed here. I lived in AZ for 13 years and all my batteries except for an Optima die within 1-2 years because of the harsh conditions. Granted I started using the Optimas for my rock crawling rigs that roll and are beat to Sh&*. This is why I went with the red tops in my SD. I find some of the comments here not in line with my numerouse years of using Optimas. Maybe I have been fortunate and some have had better luck with the other manufacturers. Good luck. My .02 cents.

And I lived in Yuma, AZ for sometime, never ran anything but OEMs and never had a problem. Must be luck of the draw.
