I've driven trucks and SUV's for years and never had this happen. The wife and I were getting on a highway, on a ramp I have used 100 times. It's been raining most of the day, no big deal. The ramp is curved, I was accelerating just little, under the speed limit (about 30mph). The rear end cut out towards the left, I could only hope to steer it off the RAMP (there were 4 cars right behind me). I managed to get it to spin all the way around and parked it right on the curb of the access road, facing the wrong way of course. I did this all without hitting anything and did't spill a drop of my Starbucks. Has anyone had one of these SD's get out from under them like that? The road did look real slick in that area.
sounds like a 180 or a 540 if you were facing the wrong way. Only a 5.0L mustang got away from me in the rain one time, these trucks only if you want them too or have a tuner or fuel module. Sounds like a tundra lost its front diff fluid...
ANYTHING, even a front wheel drive, can get away from you in the perfect conditions
Always found it worst when it has JUST started raining after a long drought... the oils, etc.. are not flushed off the roadbed, but mixed in with the little rain and it makes the perfect skidpad !!!
and if it is a slight grade where everyone is accelerating, have seen many that the asphalt gets like mirrored glass after the push of all those tires just polishes it
Ahhhhh, a Texas guy. That is a rather familiar event for those of us that have lived most of our lives in the north. Upstate NY gets just a "bit" of black ice from time to time. The wife had me white knuckled when she hit some on the highway. Mud terrains and a short wheel base Wrangler makes for an interesting ride.
Round and round and round we go. Where will we stop? Nobody knows.....
Haven't done it yet with my 350 but I have done with another car. Good think I had a shovel in the trunk to clean up my drawers. Not spilling the coffee sounds like Eddie Griffin in Undercover Brother. His couple deville started doing 360's and he didn't spill a drop of his orange soda. And the lid was off.
STEPHENA GOOD THING YOU WERE IN THAT LONG SD. iF YOU WERE IN A SHORT WHEELBASE THAT ONE MIGHT HAVE BEEN JUST A LITTLE MORE EXCITING. 360 MY EXTENDED CAB F-250 ONCE. ALTHOUGH THAT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. I STARTED FROM A DEAD STOP AND SMOKE WAS ROLLING OFF THE TIRES ALL THE WAY AROUND. MAN THAT WAS FUN.
I had the same thing happen to me, going around a slight curve in the road and then next thing you know I'm doing a 360. I wound up backed into a bank, over a mailbox......with absolutely no damage to the truck (built tough). It was the dang limited slip that did me in, I just held on for the ride.
