What the...................

My '95 was idling and died like you'd shut the key off,no coughing or sputtering.Sometimes it will run for maybe a second or 2 and other times it might run 20 or 30 seconds before dying. When it starts to die,if you pump the pedal it will come back to life for a second or 2,but it's going to die.Where should I begin looking?

Thanks!!!!
Lanny

cam sensor maybe. any check engine light. maybe the fuel filter. does it crank a normal amount of time then start then died right away or do you have to crank it for a while?

watch the tach. If it drops before it dies or showes zero while cranking then your problem is the cam position sensor. good luck

I let it sit for a couple of hours this afternoon, started it up and let it idle for several minutes then decided to drive it back in the field. It was doing fine until I got to the back of the farm. It's still back there. The tach doesn't move while cranking,so it's the CPS.I can't complain, the truck will be 11 yrs. old in April and that's the original one.

Thanks guys!!!!

just one more tip. Don't buy a new cps from a dealership. You can buy them from International much cheaper or you could buy one online. I bought mine on ebay. I the ford part still sealed in the original package for about half what the dealers here wanted. Just thought I would give you a heads up. Good luck
