Hello
Bought a new SCT SF for my 2001 7.3 auto. Installed the street tune and all seemed fine. I thought I would bump the shift pressure up a bit 10-1,2 10-2,3 and 15-3,4 shift. Now in normal driving the engine just shuts off and back on again at each shift, kinda like a hiccup. At wot it shifts great. I put the stock tune back in and it shifts fine. I called SCTs tech department and talked to Steve I believe. He said he had never heard of that type of problem and told me to upgrade from V02 to V06 software, which I did and also upgraded firmware to the latest version. Last night I tried the performance tune and it runs very, very good, but normal driving I still get the damn hiccup. Something is not right.
Any ideas anyone?

Is it the torque converter you're feeling lockup and unlock?
No I don't believe so, it doesn't lurch or anything like that. The engine just dies for a split second, the tach drops right off then it starts again in the next gear. It's just like you turn the key off and right back on again.

I talked to Mike at SCT today and he said that they had never run into the that problem before. He took my info and he said they are working on a fix for me.

Mike emailed me today. He said try lowering the shift points and see if it helps, no change. They can't seem to duplacate the problem I have, so inturn they don't know how to fix it, I guess. Maybe the unit I have has some sort of problem glich that passed diagnastics and inspections. I don't know. Nothing seems to change when I adjust the trans. pressure or shift points.
I don't think its a problem with the unit. Either they flash the truck or they don't. Tune revisions can be an issue, but if its flashing the truck then its delivering exactly the tune thats inside of it. Its hard to diagnose this without being there. Is this "turbo fart" or exhaust flutter?

It is not a Turbo FART or flutter, or converter lock and unlock. At normal driving, the engine just quits or de-fuels for just a split second at every shift. It is just like snapping a kill switch, or like having your foot slip of the fuel peddle at the shift point.
I just talked with Mike at SCT. He said that it sounds like it is hitting a false rev-limiter.
I tried to do a data log just using the SF and it said I had the wrong ECU value or something like that. I checked the box for 216k EECV, which is for my truck 01 7.3. Mike said that in order to give me that error, the strategy was off. I could have made a mistake typing the 5 digits in. He told me to see if I can do a live link, that works much better.
I'm going to see if I can barrow My boy's laptop and do a live-link data log and see if it will show what's going on.
That will have to wait until this dang snow storm quits doing its thing, so I can run some more tests.

Just a thought. I talked to Jody of DP Tuners and asked him about the CPS. He said he has develeoped his tunes on the black CPS and is not too sure about what it will do with the blue. I see you have changed your CPS to blue, right? Could that affect the tune?

I don't know. It works fine as long as I don't change any of the shift settings, when I do, the truck goes into the hiccup mode. Maybe I'll slide under there tomorrow and switch in the black cps, then I'll see if I can adjust the parameters.

Well a new tanny with a upgraded valve body and new solenoid pack and the SCT does the same old song and dance, when I try to adjust the shift pressures. Same old hiccup.
Larry at Discount Power Parts is swapping me the SCT for a Diablo Predator.
Larry didn't have to do this, but he feels that the piece did not work for me, so he is doing his best to rectify the problem.
I'm not saying the SCT is a bad product, my truck just dosn't seem to get along with it.
When it comes to people to deal with, Larry and Pat are the greatest.
Thanks Again
