Banks makes a aftermarket intercooler that far bigger than anything that came out of the factory, you'll cool that compressed air even more, and send it to the motor, and make alot more power.
I am putting a 5.9 24v cummins in my v10 excursion. I was told to buy a powerstroke intercooler so that I do not have to do any cutting to get a cummins intercooler in. A powerstroke one will bolt right in.
Which one is better? 6.0 or 7.3
I am 99% that I will be getting a banks intercooler because I am going to run twins, and I am wanting the best that I can get.
Also, will a 6.0 intercooler fit behind a 2001 grill and bumper?
I'm not 100% but am fairly sure that a 6.0 intercooler is more desirable than a 7.3 but if your even considering going twins then the Banks 6.0 replacement is the hot ticket.
01' should bolt right up but anyone who can back me up feel free to chime in.
I have heard that Hypermax makes a trick 6.0 cooler but i don't think it has the high ram "elbow" pieces.
Not sure but i too am looking for more dense air as a free horespower upgrade on the intake side.
I will have to look for it. My truck is getting all sorts of ******* pieces. mating a cummins to an excursion is hard. finding parts to fit in an area that it wasn't designed for.
The funny thing is that it is easier to adapt a cummins that put a PSD in it. go figure that.
