hello,
I am having problems with my electrical system on my 94 ford, it has the 460 in it. I just replaced the third alternator in two weeks the diodes keep burning out in them, It was running wonderfully before the first alternator went out now no matter what I replace nothing seems to change what its doing.
Which is you will be driving it( or it will also do it at idle) and the battery light will start flickering on and off (I have checked the battery voltage when it is doing this and it jumps up and down at least a volt)
and and the tach and other gauges with begin to jump around, when ever it starts doing this the engine wants to cut out and sputter and the only way to clear it up when it starts doing this is to rev it up to about 3000rpms and when it starts doing this if i keep it at 2500 or above on the tach it seems to run a little better.
My only thought is voltage regulator but the voltage regulator is on the alternator, doe's the 94 f350 have another voltage regultor?
Damen
I have 94 F-150 our trucks wiring are the same and thers is no second regultor. when you bought your replacment was it a rebild or new? i will do some checking on some more info for you.
[/B]Most new & Remans come with a new plug, thats because the old ones deteriorate w/age/heat. if you didnt replace that i think that'd be where i'd start if i had it in my garage.
