I just saw 2 in the last 2 weeks. One for sure was Diesel....oh yeah and I live in Madison and work on the Arsenal. I saw a Black 7.3L Diesel driving on Jordan and another parked at Walmart on 72. Try calling Russell Auto Sales in Madison across from Home Depot. They deal mainly in trucks and he seems to have an EX on the lot most of the time. I bet he can get you one, although that may not be the lowest priced option. I do not know him nor have I purchased from him but was nearing a sale when I found the perfect 96 Bronco and drove to NY from here to get it. Ebay and auto trader are nice when things work, but pictures can mask 1000 words. The perfect Broco was Ebay and took $1000 to make almost perfect. Outside had not rust, but inside had tons of it as did frame and motor. I just bought an 05 Wrangler off Ebay and there were still little things that made me mad about the purchase. 10K miles and all should be perfect, but when I went to inspect...the oil filter was still stamped with "FACTORY INSTALLED" and no owners manual. There are reasons why these vehicles are not being sold locally, and the price makes up for most of them. With that said, I have purchased 7 vehicles from the net. 4 ebay and 3 auto trader. Most had some unseen issues, but nothing that about $400 wouldn't cover. I will keep my eyes open for ya and post any Diesels I see.
Good luck.

Madison where? I am in Madison, WI and have a white one with the 7.3
This was in reply to the thread starter, Michael Sizemore who is from Alabama. We are living in the same 30 mile area. I know there are many Madisons and I was very vague with that reference. My apology for misleading you. He is looking for a 7.3L in northern Alabama.

I work on the Arsenal as well.
Were the ones you seen for sale???
Russell is actually the dealer I had some "prior dealings" with on a 01 F250, and that deal didn't work out.
Russell, as every other dealer I asked told me that it would be nect to impossible to find any Diesel Xs... One guy toward Fayetteville told me that he could get me one, but I'd have to give him 5K deposit, but that would be sight unseen... He said he could find them all day at the auctions, but everyone else said they aint seen one in forever at the auctions... So either he was lying or all the others were. I asked several dealers if they could get me one, and the guy at Harbin in Scotsboro was the only one that tried, and he was unable to find one within 1000 miles... Or at least one in my price range.
I see several in autotrader and ebay over in Texas or further, I'm just skeptical to go all that way and find its a piece o' junk... The ones that seemed to be priced right all had feedback issues. If I find a dealer with near perfect feedback, I may jump on it. I now have my Expedition in the "resale lot" over near the commisary, and if/when I sell it, it will be alot easier to try to buy an EX. I have a lady interested in it, showed her today, so maybe she'll get it... Russell was going to give me $4,800 for it, but that is literally half the cost I see them advertised for similar to mine. I priced mine to sell quickly at $6,750 so if you know someone looking for a good deal on an Expedition 5.4 2wd 130K miles, with leather; in decent (as in not perfect) shape, let me know!
Yes, the 2 I saw were for sale. I noticed the Black one as I passed him and that it was for sale as he stopped beside me at Sparkman and Jordan I think. I could hear it was a diesel. I can't hear all the new 6.0s over my radio since they are a little quieter so I am assuming a little when I say it was a 7.3. The other was at Walmart but it was red which I dislike so I know nothing else about that one. Shoe polish 'for sale' on the back. Be patient and keep your eyes open.
Maybe I'll ride by the Wal-Mart on 72 to see if there is one there... I assuem you mean the Walmart on University, the Walmart in Madison is on 20 right?
Was it parked out on the edge of the parking lot for visibility, or was it in the shoping area, liek they were just shopping? Sometimes I see them parkat the edge of the lot all day for visibility...
You say red, was it maroon, or red???
If I see one goin donet he road, I'll do a 360 and run him down
Thanks alot!!!

I think it was Red. It could have been parked or shopping. It was on 72-yes. It was about 3 vehicles after the last vehicle parked. Close to where I park my X when I shop. Maybe shopping or maybe a cheap vehicle seller looking like he is a shopper.
I know I am not really helping you...just giving you the 'fish in the sea' speech...but I will keep looking.
Michael, I don't know if you want to come up my way here in Indiana, but here is a Midwest trader rag that always has 10-20 X's in it every week: http://auto-rv.com/
Good luck. I'm going to start my hunt for the perfect used one here in the very near future.....

i have a 2000 psd limited, i ordered when new from Ricart Ford, it has every option plus $15,000 custom Alpine AV system plus extra wood trim. 96,000 miles, just ran it from Ohio to Florida and plan to drive it back sometime next week. everything in good shape, just ordered a new hatch lock actuator (all others replaced).
last fall it got a fresh set of BFG all-terrains, all the way around power slot rotors and hawk pads.
It is in great shape, dark blue with parchment int.
what would you pay for it? i'll deliver it and rent a car for the rest of my return trip.
