Transfer Case Issue
I have a 1984 Ford F250 with a 351 Windsor. This truck is four wheel drive. My problem is when the truck is in gear and the parking brake on, if you go under neath the truck and grab the drive shaft to the rear axle it rotates about 1/2 inch side to side. Is this normal? Thanks

There is always some amount of gear lash in an older truck. With only 1/2" of lash, I doubt you have any problems.
While you are under the truck, check each u-joint for play (there should not be any) and check that the rear pinion does not have any side to side play in it.

The 208 transfer case uses a chain and even if you replace it after a few hundred miles it will have play I agree with Lou Braun I doubt there is a problem. My 86 F250 4x4 has play also.
