What year is the truck? How you change the seal depends on if it's a one or two piece seal.

That truck should have the two piece seal which will require removal of the oil pan to you can remove the #7 main bearing cap. The good news is that the trans can stay in place.

Take it apart. It should be a 2 piece. AFAIK they didn't use the one piece until they went to EFI.

I guess I'm not sure when they changed them. The 73 300 I had laying in the yard was a 2 piece. Anybody know for sure when they changed?
