. A "perfect education" system would be one in which a student does NOT have to think "gee, which assignments/quiz/test/classes are the least important so it wouldn't hurt me as much if I forgo carrying to book home tonight." every day.

I disagree : "Knowledge is Power"
Here is a General Statement: "How much Power do you want in your life?"
IMO, A perfect education system is one that doesn't "Pamper the student" but helps the student to realize that to gain knowledge each and everyday is a gift to the human brain

You can quote me on this if you like
Right. But since we don't live in utopia, not every students will care about knowledge as much. So heavy books might just be enough to make them not wanting to bring it home and study.
What are students going to do in college when they have to carry heavy books if you pamper them in high school? How about when they get to the real world and have a job that requires them to carry heavy things?
As far as a heavy book making students not want to study, thats just too bad for the student. Its pretty sad that the size and weight of a book will make them not study and get worse grades. I have never decided that I wasn't going to study for a test because a book was too big. Quite frankly, if they don't want to study for a test, thats their problem. Making books smaller will not make students do better in school. They will just make different excuses.
There is no sense in pampering children. Instead, we need to hold them accountable. Like I said before, if a student doesn't study for a test, then they will fail. Too bad.

Well, we live in a nation where people are willing to spend $500 more just to get a laptop that's 2 lb lighter. What can you say?
People don't like carrying heavy weights, especially small children with undeveloped backs.
