I'm having some trouble getting my truck to start consistantly. Here's my situation:
At first, the truck wouldn't start at all. There was no "click" from the silenoid that I can remember (in hindsight). I tried jumping it, and that failed. Then I cleaned the terminals and silenoid, and it started. However, this was a one time affair. The temp has also been generally cold. In any case, I replaced the silenoid, and the new one seems to be working fine. When I first installed it, the truck still wouldn't start. Then a few days later, I tried it and it started. I ran an short errend, parked it, and the next day, it wouldn't start. Then a week later, I randomly tried it, and it started again. Then it didn't start. Today it started, and now it's not starting again. The only guess I have is that it's been starting when wet. The times it has started have been after rain. I'm guessing some sort of connection is bad. The relay clicks all the time now. Is there any particular place I should check? What should I look for? Why is it randomly working?
Inspect the entire length of your batt cables, if they're old, worn, corroded or soaked with oil/dirt (especially at the starter) they may be causing your problem. Or if your starter is extremely oil/dirt caked? My Bronco's positive cable and starter were very bad (oily/dirty) due to me neglecting to fix the ol' valve cover leak. Needless to say, I started having intermittent starting problems. After changing the solenoid numerous times and having it work for a while then not. I changed the starter, which I think was probably ok, other than being very messy, but the problem persisted so I changed the cable to the starter. Haven't had a problem since! Oh ya, I fixed the valve cover leak too, what a pain in the #*@! Good luck.

Reason: added corroded
I've had a similar problem with my 93 before. One of the wires going to the starter had a bad spot in it that was grounding against the block and the motor wouldn't even think about turning over. But I did find that wiggling the wire or moving it away from the block will let it start. So like bmarkey said, try checking all the wires from the battery to the starter.
