We pretty much stick to the Dupont Chromasystem....Base/Clear.....Leaves a beautiful finish, somewhat forgiving, and easy to work with. The paint that i just bought for my 53 was priced over $100 a quart, but that is to be expected with a red iridescent metallic. Oh well, its a beautiful color (Inferno Red Effect), and i will be excited as all hell when it comes time to spray it on there, which i will also be doing myself....in the middle of the primer sanding stages now.....

I have done a lot of paint on classic cars/trucks. I used to only use single stage acrylic enamels, but now I only use base coat, clear coat. Lot happier. Sand primer to 400, shoot base, wait, then shoot clear. Color sand with 1500 then 2000 and buff. Show car results. Good luck.

With BC CC, if you have a messup in the basecoat, sand it out and shoot more base over it until base is perfect then shoot CC. Messup in the clearcoat same deal sand out runs etc shoot more CC. Near impossible to screw up that can't be fixed.
