Remember when??

~Gassing up didn't mean a second mortgage?

~The gas vs. diesel "debate" wasn't as easy as it is now?

The pic is kinda funny but it was the background that caught my eye.

Oh Yeah.....
It's funny I was in Yellowstone 2 summers ago and was in awe at paying 2.06 for gas while visting the park. I thought it would get to that price some day, just not so soon. 2.06 can alomst seem cheap now
I wonder what it will be at Yellowstone this summer....

I used to think I was "cool" cause I filled my 302 Maverick with Getty Premium, and got change back from a $5!

$4.50 would fill up my old '65 Chevy SuperSport - that got maybe 9 MPG - and I had enough money to go to the movies and get a burger afterwards.

You could completely overhaul a 352 FE engine for about $400.00...belts, hoses and all.

I could write 2 or 3 pages of this stuff...

Use to pay 25 cents a gal and they put it in. Now over 2.00 dollars a gal and you have to pump it . This is progress?

When I started Driving, gas was 17 cents a gallon. I always wondered where I would get enough money to fill the tank. I worked in a Shell station, and only made 65 cents an hour. Between beefing up the 440 Mag and replacing tires, gas was a luxery.

Does that give away my age.

Ain't that the truth! My first driveable car was a 57 Ford ragtop. Paid $150 for it in 1965.

Had a 55 Rag Top, Beautiful Cars.

At min wage, in 65, working part time and going to school, that $150 would have been 6 months wages.

Was watching "Mother, Jugs and Speed" the other day and during one of the ambulance scenes, you could see regular (leaded) gas for 61 cents...

Nice thread. Really takes ya back. In june 98 when I got this beast gas was a little over $1/gal. Those days were great. Nowadays I can hardly go on a drive anywhere far outside of town. I still got my chip on buying premium though. Even that's getting to be a consideration since the spread of super over regular unleaded at sations like Chevron and Shell is getting larger. I don't care, I'll continue to drive the truck to do errands over the wife's 02 Corolla anyday. She's gotta get a new vehicle soon, already eyeing the new Honda truck, when we give that to our son for college. It's gonna have to be a damn nice truck to pry my hands away from the steering wheel of this lifted Ford V10.

Remember when you ran home after school to watch 'Saved By The Bell'?
Do you remember when gas was $0.50 a LITRE?

If not then you are WAY older than me!
