so i have an 86 f150 and i want to install the interior dash from a 92-96. someone told me it would be too much of a hassle and i dont know a whole lot about what it will take. can anyone tell me if it is possible and what all i would need to change/modify? how hard would it be?
Interior parts such as Dash covers and pads and Door Panels are interchangeable with the 1980 to select 1999 F-500 and above. The later years are black and grey. Even select instrument cluster parts if not whole clusters depending on year
I think the dash might fit up to 96 but don't think later ones would because as you said, our truck speedos are not electric and later 90s models are due to the 4R70W trannies.
Our speedos are cable drive still.
The rule I always heard was 80 to 96 is interchangable but have not done it myself so can't say for sure. I don't think a 97 to 99 would work for the reason you state, the electric speedo.
I am going through hell right now with an electric tranny/gauge cluster that is blowing fuses on a grand marquis that none of us can figure out. Sometimes old technology is better technology. -gggg-
