Question Warped Rotors

We have noticed that all fords we have owned. deveopled warped rotors and cause the brakes to pulsate. we usualy have to replace the whole rotor without even getting one cut out of them. Is there ant aftermaket rotors or fixes for this?

thanks mike

That tends to be true with all of the newer Fords and Chevy vehicles. They are looking for ways to cut costs and rotors tend to be one of the first places. Designed way to thin and can't dissapate heat fast enough. In some cases, aftermarket solves the problem if they are able to change the rotor chararcteristic or the cooling measures.

I've never experienced this on any vehicle manufactured before about 1988 unless there was a caliper malfunction.

There are lots of slotted and/or drilled rotors on the market that help with this problem. My wife used to have a 97 Grand Cherokee which ate brake rotors. First time they warped we just put on new ones, but they didn't last six months before the pulsing came back. I bought aftermarket drilled rotors that solved the problem.

Point of interest on this, I was looking in a parts catalog and found that they used the same rotors for Grand Cherokees athat they used on Wranglers! And most other Jeeps of that era.

Depending on how new the vehicle is, you may have a problem finding aftermarket slot/drilled rotors for some vehicles. First set of rotors that we bought on my wife's mercury mistake had to be purchased from the dealer. None of the auto parts stores handled them.

It took 3 years before a fuel pump was available for that car that was not a dealer part. Never did really get an answer why. We are on the third fuel pump in that car and each time, the pump design has changed dramatically. It is also apparently a variable speed pump which is not that common.
