Question 400 cam? valve train problems?

I was told by a engine builder that any kind of non-stock cam on a 400 would cause problem. Even with new heavier springs, has anyone heard of this? Also is Badger still in business (pistons). Thanks for any help.

Yeah badger is still in business (check on of the sponsors of this site, TMI, as you can get the pistons through them).

But as far as the cam is concern at least half the guys in this forum running 400's have at least an rv cam, i myself am going with a more aggressive street/strip cam, but as far as valve train is concerned the cleveland vavletrain is dang near identical with a few certain parts being different, i think that engine builder needs to take some lessons on ford power.

They can cause a push rod length problem, as the base circle would likely be different.

I would find another engine builder. As plsted above many of the users here, myself included are running aftermarket cams without any problems. Proper assembly is all that is required.
