This forum is great. First time on and I have enjoyed reading all the posts. A lot o' knowledge out there!
I have the truck listed in my title, bought it brand new years ago. She has 96k miles on her. The first 50k was a bit of a challenge in terms of issues, but overall nothing too crazy. The last 50k has been wonderful. I have really only encountered routine maintenance with a minor problem here and there. I love this truck and we have been through a lot together! It's paid for and I want to continue the relationship until death do us part.
The point of this post is what is YOUR experience in how far I can take this truck, if I continue with regular maintenance and oil changes, as I always have?
I don't want to sell the truck at this juncture, but my Dad is brainwashing me with his paranoia telling me that I am going to start seeing a lot of problems once I pass 100k miles! I am hopeful he is wrong or maybe I am just in denial.
I would appreciate the experience or opinion of anyone who has time to share!
Sincerely,
Florida Kid

With all due respect to your dad, he's living in the past. When he was a teenager, his dad probably told him that any car with more than 50k was rolling on borrowed time. The truth is, if the engine in your truck is well maintained, it will last at least 200k with very few issues. The days of the 100k life expectancy passed long ago. Look at it from an economic standpoint, every month you keep it saves you a car payment. I say drive it till the wheels fall off. We actually bought our EB Expy with 89k on it and plan on keeping it for at least 100k more miles.
Don't sweat it floridakid07. I have a '97 that just passed 312,000 miles last week. Regular maintenance, oil changes, and TLC.
You might just be on to something with the immortality thing!
Don't sweat it. You have a lot of miles left in your vehicle. We all know what junk GM stuff is and my son's '89 Chevy pickup now has 350,000 miles and is going strong.

WHOA! You're my inspiration to keepin my 97 EB Expy and to bring shame to my Ford-hatin co-workers!!! Currently have 143,000 on her and she still rides like a dream! Love it love it love it love it!!
all the trucks at work with the modular engines all have 170K plus with . most seem to die around 260K. keep in mind these trucks never leave the yard with out at least a 6,000 lb trailer. these engines are tough and will prove it to you.
