It is a 1998 EB with 4X4 and a 5.4L engine. It has limited slip. I went to Advanced Auto and they told me 5.5 pints plus 7 oz. of CRC Friction modifier. The CRC FM was a total of 7 oz and it stated on the instructions to use the entire contents. So I purchased 3 qts of Valvoline 75-140W 100% synthetic + the FM. When Itook the rear cover off, the oil was milky. I added the amounts they told me and I still have a little bit of the problem. Does this take driving to break in? Should it go away immediately? Anything else I should check.....venttube?
I asked this on another thread but so far got nothing. What is friction modifier? What is it for? Do I need it if I used Royal Purple Synthetic Max Gear? I put in about 5.5 pints but no friction modifier. Should I get sweaty? Help. I'm feeling stupid. THanks
I am learning also. As I was told, the FM is an additive that helps the clutch plates work. While at low speeds when the vehicle is turning, the outside tire will have to go farther then the inside wheel. These clutch plates allow for that turn so yopu don't break an axle. I was also told that it may take a while for the FM to work, but it will eventually. Like I said, I am asking a lot of questions and learning as I go.
