Air Cond. Charging
I'm trying to get an a/c working in a 1979 F150. The clutch on the compressor stays on while I have the a/c on, telling me its low on freon or completely out. Don't know if it has any leaks. However, is it ok to recharge the unit with R134? There are conversion kits available. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!!
Keep on truckin'
This keeps the compressor from burning up.
If you are going to convert to R134, you will first need to
check for leaks(sames alot of headaches later).
flush out the the system to get rid of the oil that's in the
system. Put a vacuum on the system(to remove all moisture).
Replace with ESTER or PAG oil for R134. Charge up to 80-percent
of R134(pressure is higher than R12).
Check low side and High side pressures.
low side should be between 20-40 psi.
High side should be between 240-280 psi.
