Here is 10.5" with 40's. I think you will be too tight with 8-9 unless you do some cutting. I am in the process of getting a DC Customs front bumper painted that is trimmed with the lip welded back on to give me a little more room.
I think it depends on what model truck u have and what engine u have. My buddy has an extended cab long bed with diesel and it doesnt sit as high as my extended cab short bed with 5.4 gasser. ive got 6 1'2 inches and 36x13.50 with no rub at full turn. Ive put another friends 40's on and didnt have any clearance problems but I cant say iveheard anyone else say this. I didnt do any cutting but I did take the little 3 to 4 inch piece of plastic off the bottom of the front bumper. I think I have some pics in my gallery
I have 17 1/2 frame to axle in the front. Do you all springs or springs and hangar? Looks like 40s might fit on mine after all. All I have is the 8" springs in front and 7.5 in the back with a 1"block for the trac bars. By the bear truck looks sweet man.
Just to make sure I should be measuring from the bottom of the frame by the bumpstop to the top of the axle on the drivers side. I think you have told me this before bear but I was wanting to double check.

Hey thanks guys..I appreciate it...
I'm running a 6" spring with 4.5 hanger up front.
Take the measurment from the passenger side....it's tough to get an accurate measurement from the drivers side because of the front pumpkin...but yes bottom of the frame by the bumpstop to the top of the axle.
Also make sure you are on level ground when your doing this.
