got a 79 f150 400 4 barrel i just swapped in a t18 to replace the auto my question is i live at 9000 ft and am curiose what should i be running for timing?
Try 14° advance for base timing and see how it runs then adjust. 9000 ft is way high but in mountain country the vehicles tend to see real variations in that altitude, which require timing adjustments. In an environment like that adjustable timing may be a real valuable option. When driving in the mountains I used to switch fuel tanks according to altitude. Regular in one and premium in the other.
