Dana 60 differences
Hello. I blew the gears in the Dana 60 under my Bronco this weekend. The axle was originally from a 79 F-250. I am trying to find a replacement in the junkyards for it, but have run into a bit of a problem. The people who made my rear disc brake setup said that the axles are the same from 72-79, but the folks at the junkyard tell me that the 79 is only interchangable with the 78-79 axles. Anyone know what the difference is? I can't find a 78-79 with 4.10 gears, but have found a bunch of 73 axles with 4.10 gears. Are the spring pads different widths or something? Thanks.

Dana 60 differences
The frame of the pre 77.5 is narrower than the 78/79 I think the springs are narrower too. The spring mounting perches would be different.
If you get into a jam, just have new spring perches mounted on whatever you get. It can't be too much more than $75 or so.

I have the rear end you are looking for out of a 77.5, its a dana 60 with 4.10 gears. If you live in the northeast i'd gladly sell it to you, i will not ship it by mail.
