I'm looking to find a posi traction rear end for a 1966 f100. I was wanting to find one off another vehicle. I think I have 28 spline axles, any help on what type vehicle might have what I'm looking for would be appreciated.
No it is not original. It orgianlly had a very low gear that would hardly go over 40 without pulling some serious RPM's. I swaped the chunks with another truck, this probally explains what happened to the tag. I am interested in building a posi traction could you point me in the right direction.
There are a number of ways to add a limited slip. Positraction, BTW, is a GM trademarked term that doesn't apply to Fords.
Most of the options are available for more than one axle, but you will need to know what you have when it comes time to buy. Right now, we can help you figure out what will work best if you'll give us some more detail on how the truck will be used and what kind of power the axle will see.
I got a 390 bored 30 over, Aluminum Edlebrock heads and a edlebrock RPM intake and a 268 Comp Cam. C6 transmission with a mild shift kit. Its a daily driver, I tow a 8' trailer to cut my moms grass with. I was looking for a 3.55 gear ratio, just to get a little more torque out of the hole. I'm not real sure about building a rear end. I built the engine, but have never built a rearend.
