While towing 7K lbs and turning at a normal street corner, I feel a ratcheting shake/vibration coming from the rear. I have a 2000 PSD 4x4 with a posi rearend. I'm on the gas pedal just enough to get going, I don't gun it. Is this just the clutch plates in the rearend due to the small turning radius?
Are you using any type of antisway control, or equalizer setup? Does it only do it with the trailer hooked up? What type of trailer and/or load is it?
I am actually thinking that it is the trailer tranferring the noise up through the hitch, you would be able to feel it in the floor sometimes. If it is a leaf sprung trailer and you are making a fairly tight turn it could be the springs and pivots snapping and causing the problem.

Toyman
It's a 25ft toyhauler, I use load equilizer bars and a friction antisway bar. I don't think I hear/feel it when coasting around a turn. I'll pay more attention next time. And I don't notice it when there's no trailer hooked up.
