I was reading a post on another local board that there is a place in Noonan and also in Plentywood that Canadians can have their parts shipped to and then drive across and pick up.The cost is minimal, something like a couple of bucks. The one guy was buying some tires and rims from the U.S. and the company offered free shipping in the U.S. but wanted $150 to ship to Canada. It might not be real practical if you live in saskatoon, but Plentywood is only about 1 1/2 hrs from Regina.
Let's figure this out.
9 hrs round trip = 1000 km
Driving a truck that get's 20 mpg
1000 km = 621 miles
621 miles at 20 mpg = 31.05 US gallons of fuel used
31.05 US gallons = 117.5 litres
117.5 litres * 90c a litre = $105.75 of fuel
$105.75 of fuel
$10 Lunch
$10 Supper
$5 Snack and drink
-----------
$130.75 vs $150 shipping = $19.25 of total savings
I think that 9 hours could be better spent working of the vehicle than saving $20.
That is why I said it probably doesn't make much sense if you live in Saskatoon. You forgot though that gas is cheaper in the U.S. and you have the option of filling your tank up down there as I have never heard of anyone being charged duty on gas.One time I was planning a trip to Minot so I had parts shipped to the hotel I was staying at.It worked out good as they fell under my personal exemption when I came back.

But man, your forgetting the road trip aspect of it all
For us we ship to Noonan, and then Prosper Tractor in Estevan (our mother store) sends a guy down usually every Friday to get their mail (they have a box number there) and pick up the parcels at the same time. Our general manager comes to Redvers once a week, and brings the order with him. Its cheap and makes U.S. orders easy.
Placed the order today with Horton Hot Rods.
$925 delivered to my door, complete bolt on front disc brake kit. New master cylinder, residual valves, prop valve, stainless steel flex lines. 10 days to 2 weeks........
Wow thats cool layn. Is that place you ordered from down in the states? How does that work for duty..?? I am always curious about ordering from the states. If its ordered from canada, cool
Once you get into it and discover how it really is keep us posted.
Now if big Ed has too much time on his hands tell `em I said he should help you with the 59.
Hey Shaune, when are you going to join the Man/Sask chapter?
Your profile states that you are not a member of any chapter. To join go to the Canadian National Chapters, when it comes up you will see Man/Sask chapter and where to join. Then PM me so I will know that there is a join request pending for approval, unless I keep manually checking for join reqests I won`t know about it.
