I took an intermitent wiper switch out of a 79 3/4 ton Ford pick-up and tried to put it in my 79 Ford Bronco but it doesn't work. It plugs in exactly the same as my regular switch. Will someone please tell me what's wrong or what I have to do to get intermitent wipers on my truck. Thank You. Marty.
You missed one thing! You have to have the governor box which is separate from the actual switch mounted in the dash. Take a look in the tech articles for a good description of everything.

Similar question, my F350 has intermitent wipers listed on the invoice, but they are not now. Can I just get an intermitent wiper switch and make it work?

Something isn't right. As far as I know an intermittent switch has a different plug design than a regular 2-speed. The reason for this is there is another short harness that plugs into the switch with a single wire going to a small silver relay box and then your vehicle harness plugs into the rest. I just did the exact same thing on my 78 Bronco. The switch and relay are in my AutoKrafter 2000 book. I don't know if they are in the 2001.
If you haven't yet looked at the Tech Article on this site, click on the Tech Articles block on the right of the Home Page, and scroll way down until you see the one by Thomas Hogan "Installing Intermittent Wipers in a '73-'79 Ford Truck" (or something like that). He even has photos so you can see what's being talked about.
I did this conversion about 2 months ago on my '74, and the pieces and procedures were just as shown in the article.
Good Luck! :-)

for those of you who dont know the intermitent wipers are the same from 73-96. i have a friend who is a parts manager at a ford dealer. i had him look up the switch for me and he said the part number is the same for 73-96
I can affirm what PJ said. I removed an interval switch from an 84 stepside at the wreckers and bolted it right into my 68. The black box that plugs in between the dash harness and the switch has an extra black wire that goes to any ground screw. The only adjustment I had to make was moving the wire for the windshield squirter to another hole in the plug from the black box to line up with my 68 factory harness.
