Are the '06's different?

I ordered my bug shield for my '06 350 cc fx4 and I installed my ford factory bugshield, as you look behind it on the left side as your facing the truck, the plastic is about an 1/8" from my hood. The right side is about an 1" away from the hood. I sent it back and ordered another one thinking the molding was off and the second one did the same thing. Are the '06's different? The factory says they fit from 1997-2006. The rubber spacers are not enough to raise it up away from the hood without bowing the plastic of the shield and I'm worried the wind will rub the plastic to the hood paint.Has any one noticed this with an '06? Or maybe my hood is sized wrong from Ford? I don't notice a difference in the hood by measuring and looking at it from left to right? Is there another bug shield that wraps around to cover the front of the fenders besides the Ford one?

There are 3 distinct differences between a 2005 and 2006 Superduty

1) VIN Number

2) Production date

3) Probably at least 10,000 bucks by now...

Sounds like an issue with the 'bug-shield' and not your truck. I ordered mine through Cabelas and it fits perfectly.

The 06 has the same exact hood by part number as the 1999 and up models. No difference.

I agree with Kepler. It sounds like a bug shield issue to me. I have installed very few that actually fit correctly.

Not sure what a head gasket has to do with a bug shield?

The folks that put on my bug shield and rain guards over the door windows tried one brand that did the same thing. We went with a Drawtite brand and it fit better and snapped in holes under the hood instead of using screws. It also covers the leading edge of the fenders all the way where the other brands don't.

Thanks to all that responded I'm going to try a different bug shield because after two of the factory ones they are not fitting right. besides that it will save me about $30.00. Joe
