Americana made our short list but when it came time to buy we ended up going with Jayco and ordered a 38RDQS Designer Legacy. Had an extensive email exchange with the owners and reviewed their CD. It all boiled down to "bang for the buck" and we believed Jayco offered more than the Americana. That said, I won't knock Americana as I've never owned one and I've heard a lot of good things about them - hence them making my short list. But there were a few things that removed them from the winning selection, one of which was the hydraulic brakes. Hydraulic brakes are not compatible with the 2005 Ford integrated brake controller. There were a few other things --for example, they were experiencing problems with the shower drain (if I remember correctly), and there were some warranty issues as they do not have their own factory. Rather, they use the Cardinal factory and in essence modify a Cardinal 5'er to Americana specs. All considered, just thought it better to go with an established manufacturer at the time.
I have had a Wildcat, Cardinal and now have a River Canyon by Travel Supreme. I haven't had a lemon in the bunch. I just traded up each time.
The first two are by Forest River and both were good trailers. The only problem I had was with the Kenda tires on the Cardinal and got them replaced. The River Canyon is solid built but of course is heavier, but not too heavy for the F-350 I use.
In short didn't have any quality issues with the Forest River trailers, but I do feel the Travel Supreme product is a bit higher up the line in terms of how it's built and how it handles on the road.
