Areimus, clarify some things for us here, what T case is coming off and which is going on? I will presume you have a C6 auto in your truck, but what are you hoping to accomplish with this swap ? What year truck are we talking about here? DF
Te t- case that is coming off is a full time np-203
i hope to accomplish putting the part time 205 in my truck because im having a hell of a time finding one where i live.
i am just wojndering if there will be any problems with it bolting up. oh yea i have a 1978 f-250 4x4, 460
The np 203 has a lower low range that is prefered by most people the problem will probably be that the out put of your tranny may have a different input than your new 205. Have you thought of installing a Part time conversion? You can then have the lower low range and a 2wd position
The problem is the 203 already broke and i need the truck for work and such. The only place ive found a 203 whats $350 and i dont have money right noe to spend like that. So i was trying to swap it for a 205 ($100). Is there any way i can tell if its got the same output as the 203 cause i have no clue when it comes to fords
Thanks
I did this many times! the trans is the same output! the rear driveshaft is different, as is the 4x4 shifter. If this is an auto trans? it will be the same forward distance from the front drive. the front driveshaft will still fit, it may need installed in reverse however. good luck, Brent
THE SURGEON GENERAL NEVER SAID A THING ABOUT SMOKIN' A CHEVY!!
I swapped mine from a 203 to a 205 and it was a direct bolt up. The shifter for the 205 is different but if your 205 came with a shifter then you do not have any problems. Even my rear driveline bolted back up. In thinking about this the only thing you may need additional is the mounting bracket where the 205 mounts to the frame. (be sure and get the rubber bushings also)
I do have the 203 that was working fine when removed that you could have cheap if you are interested.
