Unhappy Frustrated with shocks.

I have a 01' PSD, 4X4, CC, SWB with a leveling kit that was already installed when i bought the truck. I'm told by the local shop that i have 3 1/2" in front and 1 1/2" in rear. My shocks are the stockers that we're on the truck and are over extended at ride height. They need replaced and i want to put Bilstein's on it. Here is the dilema... Bilstein says that the 5100 series are on the "ragged edge" of too long and the stock series are too short. I could use some help here because i cannot believe i am the only one with this type of leveling kit. Also, they recommended trying their 5125 series but it requires mods (undetermined what kind) and i cannot find the part number they gave me anywhere. My local shops stare at me when i tell them what i'm looking for like i have a hole in my head.

Sorry for the length but i wanted to give background and dilema.

Help Please!

If you talked to Bilstein and they themselves admit that they dont have a shock for that application with that amount of lift, why not goto another shock brand? Bilstein's are great shocks, but there are many others that are just as good. Ranch RS 9000 has the adjustability (I run them and like them) to do anything you want and they come in just about every size you can imagine. How about the Monroe Sens-A-Track series? Auto valving...more of a car/street-use shock, similar to the Bilstein's. There are about 5 brands of shocks I could recomend right off the top of my head, I would not sweat the loss of the Bilstein name in your choices.....

You're right about other choices. I just don't want to give up on them until i've checked around. Bilstein says the 5125 application will work but that mods need to be made. They just couldn't tell me what ones. When i asked the shops they just look at me funny, which obviously concerns me. In looking at the forums for a while i've noticed some of us on here have said they have leveling kits with bilstein's just not whta sizes of level or style of bilstein.

Holding on to hope.

It may be that they have the crossbar mounts like an Excursion uses? If so you can force that out. Or maybe it requires a welder...? That sux that they cant tell you what the deal is. Maybe its a 30 second mod...maybe it takes a plasma cutter and a welder......and 18 hours of machine work....lol.......thats the kind of contrast I picture when you tell me something "May take a bit of extra work...or mods"
