running a pradator on 80 or 85 hp setting, I can't remember which. Anyway, sometimes when I get on it, the truck acts like it is breaking the tires loose, but it won't be. I let off the throttle and it acts like the tires grab traction. The truck has the six speed manual. Is this my clutch slipping, and how do I fix it?

Sounds like it. The only cure once you are to this point is to replace the clutch.
if i ease into the throttle it won't do it. How long do you think my clutch would last at this state? are there any other beefier clutch alternatives out there, any other kits?

A good rule of thumb is to avoid slipping the clutch. If you don't slip it, it has the potential of lasting for years. Slip it a lot and that life span quickly gets reduced to a few minutes. It all depends on your right foot.
Ok, so I did some searching on some past posts (gotta love that feature) and now have some new questions. I am now looking between a south bend clutch and a Luk. Can the Luk handle my predator on 100hp? I will mostly run the 80 or 60hp tune, but want to be able to bump it up and not have to worry about it. Will the south bend clutch rated for 350hp be good enough, or will the standard Luk do? I am leaning towards the Luk, due to the fact that it seems to be popular among the forum members, and the price is appealing. Also, do I go single or dual plate, and where can I pick up a kevlar bearing? Sorry about the lengthy post! THANKS!!
The standard LUK will handle the Predator with ease....I've been very happy with mine. That being said, the SBC Con-O is supposedly an even stronger unit, and I have never heard read or seen anything negative about those either.
what is the differance between a single and dual plated flywheel? Am I right to assume that my stock early 99 has a dual plated flywheel? My buddy had his clutch go in his 99 dodge and he UPGRADED to a dual plated flywheel. Is a single better than a dual? THANKS!
Some clutches have dual friction material. Two types of material on one disc. A dual plate or twin disc is for ultra high hp or pulling. The con ofe I removed is rated for 450hp. A con o is rated for 350hp. You can look here http://www.southbendclutch.com/ford_catalog.html
If you need help with South Bend, I can point you in the right direction. As I read this, I was thinking of south-bend. They are a premium product....for sure, but you get exactly what you pay for. Polish a turd, and get a shiny turd....lol.....polish a diamond in the rough, and get a shiny diamond. You know what Im saying....Hey mech, I have not heard from ya. I have something in mind.
