aftermarket engine temp guage
Has anyone put an aftermarket temp guage on a powerstroke? I've got a short somewhere and have gone thru 3 sending units. It will work for a day or two, go crazy and then quit. do guages (like auto meter) come with the fittings that go into the engine temp sensor hole? Thanks for the help.

the best place to put the temp sending unit is in the plugged hole in the left side of the waterpump. alot of people use that for the coolant filters (i think all do) and if you have a filter taking that place, there are ports on the filter head that aren't used and can be tapped into.

Yea what Strokin_it said. ALSO - I don't think you want to totally do away with the stock one, because I'd bet that it is tied into the PCM for something or other. You really gotta watch what you do away with on these rigs as pretty much EVERYTHING goes back to the PCM for input!
