I'm having a problem with my 3 speed manual transmission. All of the parts yards want to know if it is a FORD or saganaw and I haven't a clue... Does anybody know? It's a '72 half ton with a 302. It gets stuck in reverse and will not budge until I get under the truck and manually disconnect the. The book calls that year from a car a type 7................also where can I fine the ID #. I've looked all and no luck...There is no place to drain the oil either.. Thanks in advance.

The problem might be in the steering colum rather than the transmission. Have you checked to see if the linkage is moving when you move the shifter. Also it uses grease instead of oil.
