460 ford main caps to block
How do the main caps fit the block? I had the block bored and didn't take the main caps in with it. Received the motor back and believe it's a different block. The main caps don't seem to fit the block. I know which direction they go in. The width of the main caps seems wider than the boss in the block. Did the machine shop give me the wrong block, or, do you just tighten the **** out of 'em. Did they manufacture different width main caps plus machining on blocks in different years? This is a 460. thanks

I would check with the machine shop. You could have gotten the wrong block. If this is the original engine, check the casting number to ensure it matches the year of the truck. The main caps should seat against the block without having to force them. The caps should be numbered as well with an arrow showing direction of install.
