I like to use my headlights during daylight hours for safety reasons. The problem with this is that the radio and heater displays go pretty dim and next to impossible to see during the day. Does anyone have any secret tips on making these brighter in the daylight? Or might there be a daylight running lights option that I could enable on my truck. BTW, it's a 2006 Lariat. Thanks
There is a day time running light option for the 05's and it is the same number for all of the trucks and cars back to 2001. It is not listed as 06 compatible butt hat is not to say it isn't. It just isn't listed as of yet. you might wantto look into it...
Cool guy - no dumb question. Dimmer is on high. System is built to dim lights so the the daylight level isn't too bright for night time use.
Spiggy769 - thanks for this info. Do you or anyone else know if this part might be user friendly to install of something the dealer will have to install. Thanks

There is a Ford Parts site out there which actually lists the difficulty rating for the parts install. I have seen it before but for the life of me I cant find it anywhere. Maybe someone else out there knows of the site I am talking about...and if they have the part listed on their site then it will tell you. Other then that I dont have a clue....but if it plugs directly into your headlamp switch then it should not be a problem at all.
Just a quick note...I do believe that there are different versions of this switch depending on wether or not you have the auto headlight moidule installed or not. I can't be sure of this but just something for you to look into before ordering it from somewhere.
I believe that daytime running lamps may be eiser than that, I think that you may have to take it to a dealership and have it turned on inside the module, and then maybe install a relay or two, I'll check tomorrow at work. This is due to the fact that Canadian Vehicles require daytime running lamps, and it would be stupid to build a completelly diff veh, just like the guy with wires at the cup holder for 4X4. daytime running lights are controlled by the body security module behind the rear seat. BTW, what modle truck do you have, lariet, fx4 xlt xl, with or without remotes, or keypad on door, with or without autolamps?
I have a 2006 lariat. I do appreciate any info you can find out on this. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow but I'm expecting to get nothing but dumb looks. Thanks
I couldn't find any info on it today-so I'm going to have to try it on my truck
The DTR system conist of all the normal truck parts, 2 relays, one resistor and the Body Security Module which is behind the rear seat(on extra and crew cabs). I have replaced Several of these modules under Warranty and the only option was with or without keyless entry and autolamps so the DTR should be an option. More info will come soon.
Sorry! None of the wiring for the daytime running lamps seems to be there. The body security module is the same on all trucks, but is not what controls the DRL's, there is just no wiring, relays or resistors. it could be wired up, but may be easier to buy and install the kit, not sure though. it basically uses 2 relays and a resistor wired into the headlamps to dim them
Well, I checked with my dealer today and as I expected, I was welcomed with a initial dumb look. He did do some checking and a tech came up with a part number the same as is in the above link. Part is about 80 bucks but he would not give me any idea as to charge to install it. Said he couldn't give my an idea without seeing the part and of course the only way for him to see it was for me to order it. Really hate to order it with an open checkbook in his hands.
With the kit you have to hack into the wiring harness of your truck. This link explains the install without a kit on an F150. I am not sure of the location of the parts on an Escape.
