Do the new Rangers not have an optional flareside? Looking on the Ford web site all I saw was the STX which had the Mazda bed. Is that what Ford is going to for a flareside? I hope Ford doesn't start making the Ranger look like the Mazda, no offense to you Mazda guys but I have always preffered the looks of the Rangers.
I was very disappointed when they got rid of the flare side. I have a 94 splash and really like the flare side. I know they didn't sell a lot of the flare side but I really wish they would have continued it
I too have a 94 Splash, although wrecked at this time, I really like the looks of the flareside. It's a shame that they no longer make this style. I hope Ford doesn't do something real stupid and redesign the Ranger into something ugly or make it a midsize or worse just quit making it.
actually you can haul more than you than you would think in the bed. when i did the drywall in my garage a friend helped me pick it up with his Ranger, he was able to carry 3 or 4 more sheets than my splash held. I've had 2 old 60's Rambler V-8 engines I picked up at a junkyard in the back along with the transmissions. 6x8 fence sections, I think i was able to get 4 or 5 at a time in there. never had a appliance or furniture I picked up not fit in. Only problems I ever had I would have had with a regular ranger bed, the length.
Sure you can... I've hauled touring motorcycles, a load of manure that was too heavy for the springs and clutch, and lots of other things in mine. The extra width would have been nice for the bikes, but I managed.
I'd rather the styleside, but don't discount the hauling ability of the flare...
(It also prevents the white truck from looking too plain, I think.)
i'm sure you can haul a refrigerator, a snow-mobile, washer, dryer, snap-on tool-box (roll-around), dresser, king-size mattress!!! these are just some of the things i've hauled without touching the fenders. no offense guys, i'm just saying you can haul MORE in a regular bed. oh yea, 8 point buck, fogot about that one! lol!
I think that the flare side bed is a little wider at bed level, due to the wheell hub being outside of the bed rather than inside the bed. Correct me if I am wrong.
